I Am a Hypocrite.

And I need to acknowledge that whenever I can. I believe we need to constantly practice self-awareness. Otherwise we’re screwed.

Do some of you remember that blog I wrote about how dangerous infatuation can be? I believe I’m a hypocrite because of how I still feel and I almost hate myself for it (but I’m not perfect and no one is so we must forgive ourselves for the times we screw up).

We all know that when something (or someone) is off limits you need to stay away, or keep your distance or be civil but not entertain the idea of anything more than an acquaintanceship (that’s right! Not even friendship). Because your moral compass knows the temptation could get to be too much, and eventually cave. But guess what, knowing all that, somehow still entertaining the idea of more! WHY?!

In a moment of what felt like absolute desperation, to try and understand why people are fascinated with the ‘forbidden’ I went to my trusty old pal YouTube. I wanted to hear someone’s opinion or find information on the topic. I ended up watching a 20 minute TED talk about infidelity and the reason why some people cheat. It was very interesting to actually hear the history behind monogamy and relationships. One of the most interesting observations is how marriage and monogamy are no longer an economic…
