Publishing in a Publication Doesn’t Make a Difference Anymore

Here are my theories as to why Medium’s algorithm is failing publications and, therefore, most of its writers.

Or why your blogs are no longer getting the views, reads, and engagement they once used to when you published your work in a publication.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want with this one:

The algorithm is rigged.

From what I have observed in my feed or browse features, you can write about Medium or sensationalist topics (politics, incels, feminism, sex, etc.), and that’s it.

(Or topics that Medium editors like, which only Jesus knows exactly what they are).

Anything in between the algorithm isn’t interested in because it doesn’t get as many people engaged (which is understandable to a certain degree).

Medium, at the end of the day, is another social media platform and its algorithm works like other social media platforms' algorithms.

It will push popular and trending blogs to your page, and one way to ensure blogs get engagement is by boosting.
