Learn Your Worth, and Place Your Ego Aside to Change your Life
We need to realize we don’t know what we don’t know. And keep an open mind to different perspectives to be able to accept help when we need it most.
I used to think of myself as a lone wolf. A person that was meant to do everything herself, and figure it all out on my own. I used to think I was ‘weak’ if I asked for help. If the goal is to become self-sufficient, then I should be able to only rely on myself.
The truth was, I was convincing myself of the narrative ‘I can’t trust anyone,’ ‘I don’t deserve the help,’ and ‘nobody is safe.’ To be worthy, I must know how to take care of myself without bothering anyone. To be good enough, I can’t be a burden.
My thoughts above tell you the story of a girl struggling with her worth and self-esteem. Fortunately, I embarked on the journey to give that back to myself. And when some of the most difficult circumstances came knocking at my door, I was very, very glad I did. I was able to put my ego aside, extend my hand and ask for help when I needed it most. Turns out, you’re not a bother when you do ask for help.
