On YouTube, starting from scratch.

I wanted to share how I’ve accomplished this without burning myself out or spending much money.
I started uploading videos to YouTube consistently starting, I believe, around May/June of this year.
I did upload one or two videos at the beginning of 2024 but ended up taking an extended break because I got burnt out (I thought I could do it all, but my body and brain said ‘nah’).
I’ve shared how I film and edit my videos in other blogs, but I’ll give you the gist of it here: I use my iPhone XR to film (the quality is pretty decent, and you can change your pixelation by doing a quick YouTube search to improve the picture quality).
I also use a stand and a small ring light that I attach to my phone — these products were inexpensive (at least for me) and were purchased from Amazon.
Aside from my filming ‘equipment,’ the only other things I use are a free video editor (Clipchamp for Chromebook) and Canva to edit my thumbnails (I also use the free version), that’s it.
This is all it takes to create YouTube videos from scratch at little to no cost.
Here’s what’s helped me remain consistent and continue creating engaging videos.
