I Think I Might be Done with Publications.

At least for now.

I’ve been writing (more or less) consistently on Medium for the past three years, and in that time, I have learned a lot.

Publications have been an integral part of my growth as a writer, and I’m incredibly grateful for them and the team of editors behind them.

I’m also very thankful for the editors who helped improve my articles and, therefore, my writing.

Thank you for taking the time to critique my work and provide such valuable feedback.

With all that said, I think we can all agree that Medium has been making algorithm changes that affect the distribution of stories, even if they are published in a publication (I have some theories about this I may share in the future).

Before these changes (think before the roll-out of the new Boost Program), publications were one of the simpler or easier ways to get your work read by more people, but lately, I’ve noticed that isn’t the case.

I’ve also noticed some inconsistencies with publications.

In the past, I would submit blogs on similar topics and have them accepted into the publication without issues, but lately, I’ve been doing the same, and most have been rejected without an explanation (I also have some theories as

I've noticed that publications with huge followings often have articles that get little to no attention, even after a week or two of being published. It makes me feel that the follower count of that publication doesn't matter so much. Either that or…
