Challenge in Dating — We’re Afraid of What People Will Think About What We Truly Want
Let’s be real. As much as we like to say we’re unbothered by people’s opinions, when it comes to dating, we’re afraid of saying what we truly want because of what others will think.
In a previous blog, I spoke about what I believe to perhaps be the biggest challenge in dating. And that I would also expand on other challenges we (Millennials, among others) face in today’s dating culture. And after having dated a couple of guys, listened to a ridiculous amount of podcasts and interviews, I have made yet another conclusion. We’re afraid of telling a potential partner, and people in general, what it is we’re truly looking for in a relationship (this excludes trustworthy family and friends).
To me, this stems from the fear of being truly vulnerable. Since the dawn of time, it’s been difficult for people to be who they truly are and express themselves as such. And of course, this impacts how we date.
I want to share a fun fact about dating and marriage that I think is very applicable, and also a look at a different perspective from history.
